AAR Healthcare: Informed by Science | Driven by Compassion

Our Approach is Informed by Science

  • AAR delivers evidence-based treatment protocols supported by scientific research demonstrating the success of the specific treatment modalities we use.
  • AAR believes care coordination is a key element of a scientific approach to treatment. It is our responsibility to deliver to our clients a comprehensive treatment strategy that is optimized for frequency, type, and duration of services while also interfacing with other healthcare providers as needed.
  • AAR does not dictate care based on personal opinions or biases of any one individual and AAR does not anchor to any singular philosophy or approach to addiction treatment.
  • AAR continually optimizes its treatment approaches based on advances in scientific addiction-related research as well as our internal learnings from tracking the outcomes of those in our care and using that data to inform our ongoing protocols.

Our Approach is Driven by Compassion

  • AAR delivers customized, client-centered care that is respectful of each client’s strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences, and other individualized factors.
  • AAR delivers care with kindness, empathy, and consideration for each client’s feelings and life experiences. We know from our own personal journeys that if you are seeking addiction treatment, you have likely experienced significant pain and suffering. We have been there as well and we will support and care for you until you can do so yourself.
  • AAR does not blame or shame those we serve, no matter how much or how many times they may struggle to achieve sustained recovery. If we are not helping you to recover, that is our team’s responsibility to adapt.

What We Deliver:

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) blending evidence-based physician services with counseling and recovery support services through a customized, client-centered treatment program.

AAR Healthcare physician

Physician Services:

Medical assessments leading to the delivery of Ambulatory Withdrawal Management (outpatient detox) and/or ongoing medication-assisted treatment. Our MAT program utilizes buprenorphine (including Subutex, Suboxone, Sublocade), naltrexone (or Vivitrol), and/or other medications to control cravings and manage withdrawal symptoms.

AAR Healthcare counseling

Counseling Services:

Evidence-based clinical care, including individual, group, and family therapy. Among other evidence-based approaches, we specialize in motivational enhancement therapy (MET), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed care.

AAR Healthcare recovery

Recovery Support Services:

Designed to reduce barriers to successful recovery by providing support with areas such as housing, employment, and legal services. We also help those we serve to discover wellness practices that support long-term recovery through improved nutrition, sleep patterns, and mindfulness. Additionally, we assist our clients with care coordination, as needed, with other healthcare providers.

Other AAR Guiding Principles:

  • Our purpose is to help our clients thrive rather than merely survive. As such, we believe it is our job to empower those we serve to make decisions for themselves that will lead to improved health and wellness, living a self-directed life, and striving to reach their full potential.
  • Ambivalence and fear are often a part of the change process. There are always reasons to change and reasons not to change. Our intention as providers of SUD treatment is to help our clients resolve their fear and ambivalence to find their own path.
  • There are many pathways to recovery. No singular modality or approach is perfect for all clients. We are fellow explorers and guides to help you on the particular pathway that you choose.
  • We believe you are in recovery when you say you are! We will never tell a client he or she is “not ready,” as we view that as a pejorative, judgmental, and stigmatizing statement.
  • AAR’s treatment setting is a judgment-free zone. We know from experience how it can feel to struggle with substance use disorders. It is not our place to judge anything a client does or says. It is our job to offer as much help, support, knowledge, and kindness as we possibly can.
